Nancy: A lot of these children are frustrated. They feel guilty because they lose control. They have accidents happen at school, at home, at night. My name is Nancy Hernandez. I'm a physical therapist who specializes in pelvic floor dysfunction, and I work at Connections Therapy Centers. As a mom, having a child with a pelvic floor dysfunction, you know how challenging and how embarrassing it could be for a kid to have accidents at school. Pediatric pelvic floor physical therapy is just the evaluation, assessment and treatment of the pelvic floor muscles. These muscles lie at the base of the pelvis, and they have many different functions. If your child is over the potty training age and they are still not continent with urine or with stool and they're having accidents, pediatric pelvic floor physical therapy would also be beneficial for your child. We just want to give these kids the confidence to regain their lives back, knowing that they have control of their bodies.
